🎃🧡 I feel really stoked for today's post -- just you wait! 😉✨🎇
I felt I REALLY NEEDED to make a post today, because:
Anniversary
One of my first Neverwinter Nights modules, Surviving Horror 1, has its 19th anniversary today! 😄 Yeah, it's been frickin' nineteen years since its first release!!!
😵😛😍
The Enhanced Edition of Surviving Horror 1 is still in the works, as is the book with the same name, that I'm currently writing on. I also have some FREE STUFF going on. 😋 Continue reading this post, and subscribe to my newsletter (won't work via RSS, just click/touch the green FOLLOW-button), to find out more. 😇
[IMPORTANT NOTE: I've seen that some of you have subscribed via RSS anyway. I can't see your email-adress if you do that, which means I can't send you anything 😔]
The NWN1 Halloween Witch
Who is this Halloween Witch, you ask? Well... let me tell you more about it.
Some time ago, I decided to replay a NWN1 Gem from the past. Or rather, experience this gem in a new way. In a more polished & expanded kind of way.
I'm talking about the remade verison of the official NWN1 module Witch's Wake, which is included in Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition.
I played the original module way back when it was first released -- was it 2002, or later? Around that time, at least. The original can still be downloaded, in case you want to try that out as well.
Witch's Wake is the brain-child of Rob Bartel, who was a Bioware employee at the time.
The mysterious Night Hag. [Click / touch image to ENLARGE] |
She's mysterious. She seems nice. She seems to care about your well being. She seems to guide you. But eerily enough, she seems to know more about you, than you do yourself.
And she's hiding something. In the corner of your eye, did you see her smirk, when you turned your gaze away from her? Or was it your imagination?
What is her true agenda? Is she really only interested in helping and guiding you? Or is there something else there... hidden, behind that pale facade...
At least, that's my take on it. 😉 Her mysterious background was never revealed, since Witch's Wake was planned to be a series of modules, with only the first part actually released.
If you'd like a sequel to Witch's Wake, be sure to let the team members of Beamdog know that. If enough of us do that, they might actually listen. 😃
Interesting sides of Witch's Wake
Apart from the Night Hag herself, I find these three things to be especially interesting within the world of Witch's Wake:
1.) There's a zombie forest 😋
"RUUUNN... !!!" |
"... and DONE." |
2.) Rusty and worthless weapons or armor can be found in the game, which you can actually upgrade, later!
Two rusty swords, lies still, on top of a grave. |
3.) The way you earn experience. In other NWN RPGs, you often gain experience by defeating monsters. Not in this game. Well, you DO earn a bit of experience by doing that, but only a little. Most of the experience is gained by:
- Advancing the story
- Finding clues to the story
- Finding new areas
- Other story- and gameplay related ways, that I can't remember at the top of my head right now...
😳😂
